President's Message - July 2021

Today’s chuckle, “the most optimistic person is the mother who packs 3 books in her bag to read on summer vacation.”

We all have pictures and plans we create in our heads; frequently, those pictures and plans don’t turn out. This summer I invite you to practice the PRESENCE OF THE MOMENT and be prepared to be surprised by sheer JOY!

Here are a couple of examples:

Family Table Time

Recently at the Women and Wealth Series at a Coral Gables Trust Luncheon, Dominique Alexander, CPA, and accomplished business leader shared her foster parenting experiences. She spoke of how much she has learned. Being a parent is the ultimate training course in human behavior! One good investment she made was enrolling in Informed Families’ Family Table Time, to increase communication while having fun with your children and family. Learn more about Family Table Time here.

Having fun is a great way for people to learn and retain information.

The pictures in my head definitely didn’t include having my husband, Neil, die early. Recently I’ve been surprised by joy. Three of my adult grandsons have come to stay with me for a while. For my birthday, I was taken out to dinner, then Uber to Wynwood for dancing at “Gramps”. The next day they cooked Swedish pancakes, a boat trip on Biscayne Bay, cupcakes for dinner and my gift was a Beats Pill, a music speaker, which I didn’t know I needed but I do! Who could dream that up? They all work diligently from here to their jobs in California, but when they come up to Peggy’s Café, I stop my work and practice PRESENCE. Now I’m wiser and know to enjoy the moments.

So stop all the planning, relax and relate to those you love, enjoy the moments of summer, and share your photos with us!
