Orlando resident Ms. Jones is helping to care for four of her grandchildren this summer. Parents have to return to work, but most summer camps have to limit the number of children they accept as a result of the pandemic and CDC social distancing guidelines. Ms. Jones has taken on the responsibility of being there for her grandkids. She enjoys doing fun activities with them.
Informed Families is committed to helping ALL parents raise safe, healthy and drug-free kids, including grandparents who are raising their grandkids. Our Grandparents Raising Grandkids program offers parenting skills training, educational seminars, family bonding activities and events.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, our prevention consultants have continued to provide support to our Grandfamilies. We have been talking to each of them on the phone, scheduling home visits while following social distancing recommendation, providing worksheets they can do with their grandchildren, and connecting them to other available resources in the community.
