President's Message - July 2022
Recent legislation addressing the mass shooting problem in America may be a step in the right direction but all the recommended solutions start way too late in the process to actually change anything.
We are still throwing money at the problem and passing the problem off to Mental Health workers, Background checkers, and last but not least police. This sure will keep everyone busy and give the Media something to talk about but it won’t change the problem. The Media should stop showing and talking about all these shootings, the shooters are all starved for attention, and have mental health issues so the media gives them just what they seek and throws gasoline on the thousands of other people getting ready to blow at any minute.
Let’s face it, it is tough to grow up in America today, we are all too busy to see any farther than our phones. Do we notice these people or look the other way? I think we look the other way frequently because we don’t know what to do. We need to become communities again and become support systems for each other. We all have a crazy aunt, kid, etc. in the family; how do we help the family and person who is one-off?
