Informed Families would like to thank the 32 schools and hundreds of donors who contributed to the 2015 Red Ribbon Walk & Wrap™ event, which was developed as a way to spread the prevention message in communities and give students a sense of purpose, while raising much-needed funding for local schools and statewide prevention.
Most notably, long-time donors Michael Fay and Joe Abood of Avison Young generously donated $10,000 to the campaign.
"We are proud to support Informed Families’ Red Ribbon Walk & Wrap,” said Michael Fay, principal and managing director of Avison Young’s Miami office. “As a parent, I’ve learned a lot from Informed Families. Their prevention programs are so important because addiction affects all of us in one way or another and no one is immune to its consequences. Our contribution is an investment in the health and well being of Florida’s children and families.”
Participating schools received kits complete with rolls of red ribbon, "feet," posters and other tools to help deliver the prevention message. Support was received online through a crowd fundraising platform, Crowdrise, and in schools across Florida.
Top schools included Sunset Park Elementary, Norwood Elementary, Mater Beach Academy Elementary, Beautiful Mindz Preschool and Miami Beach Senior High.
Many thanks to all who participated! Stay tuned for news about plans for 2016.
