President's Message - February 2024
As President of Informed Families, I am delighted to share with you an exciting update that embodies our commitment to promoting a safe and drug-free environment for families nationwide.
Today, we proudly unveil the theme for the 2024 Red Ribbon Week: "Life is A Movie, Film Drug Free"™. This creative theme, submitted by Cheryl Holsapfel, Digital Art Teacher, and Devansh Aggarwal from Solon Middle School, serves as a powerful reminder of the impact ordinary Americans can make by embracing a drug-free lifestyle.
The annual Red Ribbon Week Theme Contest, sponsored by the National Family Partnership (NFP), attracts millions of submissions nationwide. "Life is A Movie, Film Drug-Free"™ was selected for its ability to inspire individuals to contribute to fostering safe, healthy, and drug-free communities.
Cheryl Holsapfel shared her enthusiasm for integrating the Red Ribbon project into her curriculum. She emphasized the real-world application and engagement it provides to students, demonstrating how their ideas can make a difference in the community.
The Red Ribbon Campaign, initiated by NFP in 1985, symbolizes our commitment to raising awareness about the devastating impact of drugs in America. Through initiatives like the Red Ribbon Week Theme Contest, we encourage the public to share their perspectives on living drug-free, fostering community engagement and commitment.
In addition to this exciting announcement, I am thrilled to share news of our partnership with Publix Pharmacy in support of our National Lock Your Meds campaign. Starting this February, Publix Pharmacy will roll out an exclusive Lock Your Meds setup in neighborhoods nationwide. This initiative serves as a reminder that safeguarding our homes from prescription drug abuse starts with each one of us.
By partnering with Publix Pharmacy, we are taking proactive steps to empower communities with the knowledge and resources they need to protect their loved ones. This collaboration exemplifies our commitment to forging partnerships that drive positive change and promote health and wellness within our communities.
As we prepare to launch these initiatives, I invite you to join us in spreading the word. Together, let's make a difference and create a safer, healthier future for all.
