Prep: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Get an ungreased 9x9x2-inch baking pan ready.
Mix: In a bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, and baking soda.
Blend: Cut in margarine/butter until the mix looks like coarse crumbs.
Reserve: Set aside ½ cup of this flour mixture.
Layer: Press the remaining mixture into the baking pan. Then spread your choice of fruit filling over it.
Top: Sprinkle with the reserved flour mixture.
Bake: For 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
Cool & Serve: Let it cool in the pan, then cut into bars
