The National Family Partnership announced the winners of the 2019 National Red Ribbon Photo Contest on December 2. Several Florida residents and schools were included among this year’s winners.
Natalia Solares from Hialeah, FL won a Judges Award in the Home category for Best Use of the Theme. Ms. Solares’ $1000 prize money will go to Youth Co-Op Preparatory Charter School.
Betty Robinson, also from Hialeah, FL, won a Judges Award in the Home category for Most Parent/Family Representation. Kinloch Park Middle School will receive Ms. Robinson’s $1000 prize money.
Brianna Brewster from Pembroke Pines, FL won a Judges Award in the Home category for Most Pizazz. Her $1000 prize money will go to Pembroke Pines Charter School - FSU Campus.
Clayton Bradfield from Lee, FL was named the Region 2 home winner after receiving the most votes in the Southeast in support of his photo entry. His $1000 prize money will go to Madison Creative Arts Academy.
Glades Middle School in Miramar, FL was named the Region 2 school winner after receiving the most votes in the Southeast in support of the photo entry submitted by Jennifer Moser, who is a peer counseling teacher at the school.
“We are beyond honored to have our students, staff, and community receive this award for all of their hard work,” Moser said. “This award proves to our students that hard work and dedication towards positive choices makes the world a better place.”
To participate in the contest, families and schools across the country decorated either their homes or school campuses with this year’s Red Ribbon theme: “Send A Message. Stay Drug Free.” A total of $20,000 will be awarded to K-12 schools, which includes 10 winners who received the most votes in their region and 10 winners who were selected for Judges Awards. The families and individuals who entered on behalf of the schools will also receive an iPad.
